 
Pilates was invented in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates.
The technique was created by integrating eastern
forms of exercise such as yoga and tai chi with the western methods
of aerobic conditioning and weight training and is a method of
strength training. Pilates also re-educates and corrects faulty
movement patterns by re-training the bodys neuro muscular
pathways. This process promotes mental and physical control of the
body, which enhances the mind-body connection.
